When the business was created in 2011 Martin already had a formidable industry reputation, but a complete visual identity needed to be developed to fully establish his business and brand. In an industry that is not only highly visual and tactile but also extremely exclusive, it was vital to get this absolutely right.
Rather than start with a formal brief, we defined the core parameters: unique, instantly recognisable, quality, excellence and, referencing Martin’s style of subtle opulence. We presented initial visuals to act as a reference point for our discussions and draw out specifics.
The resulting concept from this process was immediately approved by Martin, which we then developed into a complete set of brand guidelines, both on and offline, using bespokecolours, foiling and gilt edging, and applied the identity to all corporatecommunications including the MKD website, and even developed a house jacquard from the logo.
