Felix&Friends founder Lee Barfield meets His Majesty King Charles III at Clarence House
Felix&Friends creates brand identities and event design for distinguished charitable organisations across the UK and internationally. Our long-standing support for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Friends in the UK) led to an invitation to Clarence House on 7 September 2016, where His Majesty King Charles III (then His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales) hosted a small gathering for UK supporters of this iconic Australian organisation.
The afternoon tea at Clarence House brought together individuals and organisations committed to supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service's vital work across remote Australia. Felix&Friends attended as recognition of our ongoing collaboration with RFDS Friends in the UK, having developed event design and digital platforms that strengthen the charity's fundraising capabilities within the British philanthropic community.
Royal Recognition of Vital Australian Healthcare
During the gathering, attendees heard first-hand accounts of the extraordinary work undertaken daily by the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which provides 24-hour emergency medical care across 7.3 million square kilometres of Australia's remote regions. His Majesty (then Prince Charles) praised the organisation's contribution to Australian healthcare, stating: "I am hugely grateful to you today for taking interest in the Royal Flying Doctor's Service which I think is one of the great things about Australia."
His Majesty reflected warmly on his connections to Australia, noting: "It's always a great pleasure seeing lots of Aussies if I may say so and at least it reminds me of what I'm missing." He added with characteristic humour that the gathering reminded him "about old Australian girlfriends" from his time spent in Australia.
The afternoon demonstrated the strong ties between British philanthropic supporters and Australian charitable organisations providing essential services to remote communities, reinforcing the importance of international collaboration in supporting vital healthcare provision.
