Celebrating Four Decades of Empowerment: The Prince's Trust Marks 40 Years at Buckingham Palace
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace celebrating 40 years of The Prince's Trust, the transformative charity that has supported 825,000 young people since its founding in 1976. Felix&Friends contributed to this milestone occasion through creating The Prince's Trust International, extending the charity's proven platform to communities worldwide.
The celebration brought together over 5,000 supporters, beneficiaries and ambassadors including Sir Ben Kingsley, Dame Joan Collins, Gemma Arterton, Fearne Cotton and Pixie Lott within the grounds of Buckingham Palace. The gathering honoured four decades of providing practical and financial support to vulnerable young people aged 13 to 30 who face unemployment, educational challenges, homelessness, mental health difficulties or involvement with the justice system.
Felix&Friends was invited to help celebrate this significant anniversary by developing The Prince's Trust International, translating the charity's successful UK model into a global platform. Young people worldwide are innovating, addressing community challenges and creating pathways for others. This generation demonstrates remarkable ambition, energy and determination to build better futures, yet many lack the resources and support necessary to realise their potential.
The new international platform enables charities across the globe to access The Prince's Trust methodology, adapting proven programmes to address local issues facing young people in diverse cultural and economic contexts. Felix&Friends created digital infrastructure allowing international organisations to implement Trust principles whilst maintaining relevance to their specific communities. This expansion ensures the charity's transformative approach reaches vulnerable young people beyond the UK, multiplying its impact across continents.
The Prince's Trust programmes provide more than financial assistance. They deliver practical skill development, confidence building and the structured support needed to stabilise young lives disrupted by challenging circumstances. Many beneficiaries enter programmes whilst in care, experiencing homelessness or struggling with mental health challenges that create barriers to employment and education. The Trust's approach addresses these complex needs holistically, helping young people develop self-esteem alongside practical capabilities.
During the garden party, Dame Joan Collins and Gemma Arterton presented His Royal Highness with a portrait created from hundreds of images depicting people whose lives the charity has touched. Sir Ben Kingsley presented a digital book containing messages recorded by young beneficiaries and supporters, capturing personal stories of transformation and gratitude spanning four decades.
Pixie Lott, who became a Trust Ambassador at 18, reflected on the charity's impact: 'I just think that the work it does is amazing, giving young people a chance is so good. I've met some amazing people today, it's lovely to hear their stories and how much more confidence they have from working with the Trust, and the way they've turned their lives around.'
These testimonials illustrate the charity's fundamental achievement: not merely providing temporary assistance, but creating lasting change through building confidence, developing skills and demonstrating to vulnerable young people that their circumstances need not define their futures.
Felix&Friends' work developing The Prince's Trust International extends this transformative approach globally, ensuring the next 40 years will touch even more young lives across the world.
