Financial Services and Family Offices

In private wealth and financial services, a firm is judged long before the first conversation by how it presents itself. Brand, narrative and confidence are the earliest evidence of expertise. We help family offices, wealth managers and financial firms carry institutional authority without losing discretion: become distinct in a sector that looks the same, carry clear communication to every audience they serve, and be credible to the generation inheriting next.

Trust is Always Examined Before it is Extended

Nobody hands over the management of a family's wealth on the strength of a brochure. Before the introduction is followed up, the prospective client, their lawyer, their accountant and increasingly their children will have read the website, checked the principals, compared the firm with the private bank they already use and more and more often, asked an AI assistant for a recommendation.

In finance, the business and the brand is always judged long before the advice is

This is the sector where Felix&Friends has one of its longest client relationships. We built VAR Capital's first brand in 2016, then recently repositioned the brand, identity and narrative for the public facing business for its London and Dubai offices. This decade of working together has given us a clear advantage of what ongoing brand strategy delivers for an expanding finance and wealth management business.

Strategy is not simply created for clients, it also delivers the business and the team a brand they believe in, that represents them, their clientele and their careers. It gives them a framework to base brand key messaging across email and face-to-face communications, ensuring the messaging is always consistent, refined and truthful to the brand.

Creating Distinction in a Sector That Has Agreed to Look The Same

Walk through the websites of a dozen financial and independent wealth managers and you will see the same city skyline, the same blue serif wordmark, the same reassurances about bespoke service and long-term partnership. The sector has reached an unspoken agreement that discretion means anonymity and sameness. For HNW and UHNW clients whose homes, travel, art and lifestyle are curated with personal precision, that sameness reads as a firm that has not yet understood their clients’ world.

Distinction here is built from character and conviction. For GMF Capital, a New York and Zurich investment fund founded by a former Glencore executive, we created a typographic marque with the feel of hard luxury, drawing on the founder's reputation without making the firm a personal vehicle.

For Bondford, the London FX and alternative banking specialist, we abandoned the muted palettes of financial services for an identity that is bold and still unmistakably credible, matching a firm that had achieved 400% year-on-year growth by doing things differently.

Let Your Brand Speak to Your Clients Independently

Most wealth brands address a single figure called the high-net-worth individual. Real client bases are far more varied, and each group arrives with different circumstances and a different perspective of what a trustworthy business looks like.

In a workshop with VAR Capital's founders, we identified this as a brand opportunity. Their five distinct audiences were not given the space to speak independently. There were: entrepreneurs and business owners, family offices and trustees, executives and professionals, intermediary partners, and a group we named New Financial Explorers, people managing significant wealth for the first time after a liquidity event.

The new VAR Capital website is organised around those five journeys, so each visitor finds language written for their own personal situation. It signals self-awareness and openness, two qualities HNW and UHNW clients often value and rarely see stated.

Building Generational Brand Trust for Evolving Audiences

The greatest commercial risk facing wealth managers is generational. Bloomberg reported in July 2026 that baby boomers hold at least $93 trillion in assets. The Untethered Heir, a 2026 study by 5W and Haute Jets, found that more than 70% of heirs drop their parents' financial adviser after inheriting, with only around one in five keeping the relationship. The same study found heirs now research advisers through ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity before any human contact .

Family offices themselves are underprepared. UBS's Global Family Office Report 2026, drawing on 307 family offices with an average net worth of $2.7bn, found that only 35% have a defined succession plan for the family office, and only 27% have a structured process to prepare heirs for future roles.

Our reading, an inference from these figures and our client work, is that a finance or wealth brand has to become a multigenerational retention instrument.

The great wealth transfer coming for global heirs will decide whether their assets stay with an adviser or brand they may not have ever met. Their first, and sometimes only, impression of the firm is what the brand presents, what content is read and what an AI citation may tell them. We explored this in depth in Why Family Offices and Wealth Management Firms Need a Brand That Reflects the Clients They Serve.

Presenting Confidence and Gravitas without Distance

Independent firms exist because clients want a personal relationship with the people making their financial decisions. Something their large institution competitors cannot give. The challenge for the financial and wealth management sector is to be a modern and financially trusted brand, to demonstrate institutional rigour but without inheriting the institutional coldness or blandness.

VAR Capital's positioning sits deliberately between the two worlds: confident enough to compete with private banks on gravitas, built around the personal relationships that are the reason clients choose an independent bank. Its new identity uses a refined typeface pairing and a warmer palette, human photography in place of skylines and copy that is plain, specific and free of jargon, all within the constraints of a regulated environment. Bondford's version of the same idea is a capped client portfolio, so every relationship receives proper attention. In both cases, the brand makes a service promise visible.

Crossing International Borders with One Cohesive Voice

Wealth is increasingly international, and so are the firms that serve it. VAR Capital's expansion into the UAE and the wider Gulf made a new brand position commercially necessary: one firm, speaking with one voice, credible to a client in Mayfair and a client in Dubai. The new platform includes travel guides for a clientele that moves between London, Dubai and other global hubs, a small detail that tells clients the firm understands the shape of their lives. GMF Capital needed an identity equally at home in New York and Zurich; Bondford serves corporates, INGOs and institutional investors across 130 currencies.

What the Brand Returns and How The Clients Feel

In financial services the return on brand is practical and measurable in conversations. Introductions convert more readily when the website confirms what the introducer promised. Intermediaries refer with more confidence when they can point to a clear account of the firm. Senior talent takes a firm more seriously when its identity matches its ambition. For investment managers, a brand that signals institutional discipline supports confidence among LPs, co-investors and portfolio companies. And for every firm, a clear, well-structured website is now the source AI systems draw on when an heir asks who should manage the family's money.
